Southern Germany Model Balloon Contest Altötting 2006

After four long years, finally we met at Altötting again - three times in a row, the balloon meeting had to be cancelled because of bad weather. And it almost seemed like the sun wanted to apologize for something this year ;-)

On Saturday morning, the big balloons got ready for the start.

And the 'small ones' were also there: Jakob Kaiser was allowed to fly Daddy's Gosau Balloon.

However, we didn't manage to carry out a competition, as there were only few participants, and the challenge trophy also remained absent (hello Bernd... *g*). Of course, we enjoyed the wonderful autumn weather nevertheless.

Red rabbit in green grass: The passengers of the big balloons enjoyed the view on Frank Schnelle's "Fire Bunny".

Up, up and away: Bastian Schwarz shows the way with his D-OABS balloon.

There's plenty of two things at the Altötting area: Small rivers and large maize fields. With the afternoon thermal dragging the model balloon back and forth, chasing the balloon can become quite exhausting.

Happy landings: The Penguin has managed to go down safely behind the maize field.

Like cowboys in the sunset: Matthias and Basti return from the evening flight.

Now onto the wheat beer! *ggg*

Rumours say, that several under way model balloon projects could be seen at Altötting... but as we are professionals, we won't tell a thing until they're finished! ;-)
