Luckily, the chief organiser of the Landshut Balloon Meeting is an optimist - the weather forecast for this weekend was everything but good. But he decided to hold the event nevertheless... and his optimism paid!

The night glow on Friday evening, however, had to take place without envelopes, as the wind was yet too strong.

On Saturday morning, the weather allowed a flight, and so, the task for the model balloonists was: Catch the Penguin!

The other model balloons got ready to launch and chase the Penguin.

Not bad, man: With 41cm to the landing site of the Penguin, the team of Michael Storch took the lead after the first competition flight.

Penguin pilot Matthias had nice help with packing his balloon after the second flight.

On Saturday afternoon, the traditional crew tasks had to be solved - sack hopping in a balloon sack was only one of the funny challenges. Raphael Stauber and Michael Kampmann (front left / right) really made an effort!

In the evening, it was the model balloons again. The blue "Martifant" of Martin Eutermoser keeps an eye on Frank Schnelle's "Fire Bunny".

The "Mauli" of Karsten Knechtel, Michael Kampmann's Smiley and the "Martifant" were the favorites of the audience...

...and the Penguin, too, of course, here again in the hands of our "youth pilot" Bastian Schwarz.

Lucky winners: After four nice competition flights, the model balloonists could name their victors on Sunday. Bastian Schwarz managed to get the "secret first price" - he was so good at the crew tasks that he won a large gift basket.
