5th Int. Balloon Meeting at Schwäbisch Hall

Directly coming from the International Balloon Youth Camp, I went to Schwäbisch Hall to take part in the 5th Balloon Meeting at the Solpark.

On Saturday evening, it took some time until the balloons could launch, due to some thunderclouds nearby. But after these had disappeared, the teams could put up their balloons.

Also there was Fritz Klank from Müllheim near Freiburg, who had brought along his new clown balloon D-OLEG. The balloon was given this identification in honour of the great clown Oleg Popov.

About 50 balloons took to the sky this evening, creating a wonderful picture for the many spectators.

After the 'big' balloons were gone and the wind had gone to sleep, we could take out out model balloons. The penguin was the first to fly over the heads of the enthusiastic crowd.

But also the panda bear model balloon from Andreas and Alexander Schmiauke was a point of great interest to the spectators, and especially to the children.

On Sunday, a so-called 'key grab' was to be held: The balloon teams had to start somewhere off the place and try to get to the launch field in order to grab for a car key which had been mounted on a high bar. Our cat balloon was also in for that!

Finally, Hansjörg Fader and his team from Karlsruhe were lucky enough to grab the key, which belongs to a new Volkswagen Golf.
